RedHalo at its simplest just requires an Internet or network connection. Then using a browser a learner can save and retrieve work from their personal space.

For devices using the Windows Mobile, XP or Vista operating systems we supply an extra “client” that provides some additional features such as automated back-up and restore.

The RedHalo client can be easily configured to backup/restore a device manually or may be set to perform to a schedule..

The client performs its work as a background task on the device allowing learners to continue with their work. Furthermore in an event that a device loses wireless connectivity RedHalo will reconnect later and pick up where it left off updating any changes.

The RedHalo server application

The server is where all the personal learning spaces are held and protected. The server is a simple to use, browser based application that allows learners to manage their digital portfolio and educators to review work and distribute digital learning materials. Accessible via a standard, simple to use, web interface that may be accessed using a PC, Macintosh or most web compatible devices, subject to the browser.

Depending on the type of user, e.g. admin, educator, learner, parent/carer, this web interface may be used to manage and archive data, applications and user accounts.

Using RedHalo users may review work resident on the mobile devices or work that is held in archive. Content maybe uploaded to the server using a simple browse, point and click process. This content may then be distributed to the devices. It is a similar process with new applications. Furthermore data and applications may be remotely removed if required.
